About

The Melissia Vincent Scholarship is dedicated to Melissia Vincent: educator, mother, and friend. Melissia Vincent is an alumna of Drew Central High School where she received her high school diploma. She went on to attend the University of Arkansas in Monticello, Arkansas where she received a bachelor’s degree in education.

Melissia Vincent taught in Gould, AR, Wilmar, AR and Lake Village, AR before returning to her alma mater, Drew Central. She served as a business teacher for several years before furthering her education at the University of Arkansas in Monticello where she received a masters degree in education.

Melissia went on to become the Drew Central High School assistant and head principal. Several years later, she became the Drew Central School District Director of Instruction before retiring in 2021. Melissia now lives in Monticello, AR with her husband, Dwight Vincent. She enjoys fishing, gardening, and spending time with her three children, Frank (now deceased), DJ, and April.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Melissia Vincent Scholarship must be a graduate of Drew Central High School in the year that the scholarship is awarded.  Applicants must be accepted to and planning to attend an accredited trade school, 2-year college, or 4- year college/university. Awards will be determined by the applicant’s essay, resume, and application. Special consideration will be made for students who have demonstrated outstanding work in academics, leadership, and community service. Award

The scholarship amount is $1,000. Awards will be distributed via check at the annual Drew Central High School Senior Awards Banquet. Multiple scholarships may be awarded if funds allow.

The application deadline for the Melissia Vincent Scholarship is March 29, 2024 at 11:59 PM.
